New Year — New Practice
Dive into Ashtanga Yoga in 2018
Through this series of three workshops, Matt Tregellas will take you on a journey through the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga. Each workshop will look at a group of postures, exploring alignment and how each posture can be modified to make the practice accessible to all, as well as looking at more advanced options. We will also look at the vinyasa or how the practice is linked together into one continuous flow.
Even for those who don’t practice Ashtanga, this will be a great opportunity to develop your understanding of key poses that occur in all yoga classes such as trikonasana (triangle pose), and move towards advanced postures such as headstand and handstand, and vinyasa such as the seated jump back.
Each session will finish with a talk-through of the sequence, allowing you to apply what you have learnt. Unlike open drop-in sessions, there will be no need to instruct variations as each student will know their appropriate option. Therefore, we will be able to move with the given breath count, allowing you to truly experience the practice as a moving meditation.
It is not necessary to sign up for all sessions, but each workshop will build on the previous one.
