A climate refugee is an individual who has been forced to move because of an environmental disaster (flooding, hurricanes, cyclones, fires, tornadoes etc). These natural disasters result from fast ecological shifts that then cause droughts, sea level rises and the extreme weather events. As a result of these environmental changes, mass global migration and border conflicts are increasing.

The world is witnessing the biggest refugee crisis it has ever seen- the UN believes there are 25 million climate refugees and this number is expected to double over the next five years.

Climate change threatens so much more than polar bears or our ice caps, but millions of lives. Hear from a student from our own Student Action for Refugees society, an academic and a refugee themself about this huge humanitarian crisis.

Come along to this FREE screening of the film 8 Borders, 8 Days to see the firsthand experience of a mother and her two children crossing 8 borders to seek safety, travelling from Syria to Germany.
